There are less than 100 days until the 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon steps off and event details continue to roll out as runners and spectators await the big day.
The iconic race will take place on Oct. 11, with the race schedule already available to the public, but there is a lot in store before runners even get to the starting line that morning.
To prepare for race day, and to make the most out of the marathon experience, here are important dates and schedules for the eventful weekend.
Pre-race events
Abbott Health & Fitness Expo and packet pick-up
The weekend begins with the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo, the three-day annual event that features exhibitors offering Chicago Marathon merchandise and the latest releases of running footwear, apparel, nutrition and technology. The event is free and open to the public.
Runners can also pick up their marathon packets at the expo, which includes their bib number and safety pins, timing device, participant running shirt and more.
Both will be located at the McCormick Place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 8 and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 9-10.

Abbott Chicago 5K
This is an opportunity for marathon fans, families, friends and even registered runners to participate in the fun before race day. On Oct. 10, runners will cruise through downtown Chicago on the 3.1-mile course, which travels past some of the city’s iconic landmarks.
Here is an expected schedule for the day.
