In May, the London-based police force encouraged “anyone who believes they have been a victim of sexual assault” following their participation on the show to come forward, per the BBC.
The Met Police made the public plea after the BBC released a Panorama documentary detailing allegations of rape by two women who participated on the long-running Channel 4 reality series, as well as an allegation of a nonconsensual sex act by another woman. The allegations relate to the men they were paired up with on the show. All of the men denied the claims against them.
One woman, who chose to remain anonymous, said her husband on the program — dubbed a “bold social experiment” by broadcaster Channel4 — raped her and later threatened her with an acid attack.
Channel 4 pulled all episodes of MAFS U.K. from the air and its streaming service after the BBC report aired in May.

Channel 4 subsequently announced an external review of contributor welfare on the show, which is produced by independent production company CPL.
“MAFS U.K. is produced under some of the most comprehensive and robust welfare protocols in the industry,” the network said in a May statement. “These include the most thorough background checks available, a Code of Conduct which clearly sets out behavioural standards, daily contributor check-ins with a specialist welfare team and access to additional support before, during and after filming. The physical and psychological wellbeing of all contributors is of paramount importance throughout the process. All duty of care processes are regularly reviewed and, where appropriate, strengthened.”
“Channel 4 believes that when concerns related to contributor welfare were raised through existing welfare and production protocols, prompt and appropriate action was taken, based on the information available at the time,” the network said of the allegations made by the women. “Channel 4 strongly refutes any claim to the contrary.”
Channel 4 chief executive Priya Dogra said in a statement, “I want to express my sympathy to contributors who have clearly been distressed after taking part in Married at First Sight U.K. The wellbeing of our contributors is always of paramount importance.”
“We take these issues very seriously and are committed to ensuring that we continue to lead the industry in our duty of care for contributors,” she added.
