Students and faculty are being asked to avoid part of the campus of the University of Illinois-Chicago after a hazardous material spill Saturday.
According to a campuswide alert issued Saturday evening, the spill was reported in the 800 block of West Taylor Street on Saturday evening.
Those who are currently on the campus at UIC are being asked to follow instructions from officials and first responders, while those who are off-campus are being asked to avoid the area.
The building is home to several laboratories and department offices for UIC, including the Sustainable Energy Research Laboratory and the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.
There was no immediate word on what was spilled, or on what caused the incident to occur.
