Trains on Metra’s Milwaukee District West line were halted during rush hour Thursday after officials said a pedestrian was hit by a train.
Metra officials told NBC Chicago a male bicyclist was struck around 8 a.m. in Schaumburg and taken to a local hospital.
Several trains were stopped during the incident.
As of 9:30 a.m., outbound trains remained halted but inbound trains were moving with extensive delays. Additional trains were being brought in to help with passengers whose trains were not traveling to their intended destination.
The bicyclist’s age and condition were not immediately released.
