Aaron Murray was an All-SEC quarterback at Georgia from 2009-13, and now he’s continuing to show his career broadcasting SEC football games has staying power, too.
Front Office Sports reported on Wednesday that Murray is being bumped up to the top announcing crew on SEC Network for the 2026 season. Murray will join Matt Schumacker in the booth this fall as the SEC Network’s No. 1 announcing team.
Murray and Schumacker will be replacing last year’s top announcing crew on SEC Network that was comprised of Tom Hart, Jordan Rodgers and Cole Cubelic. There was no word on whether Cubelic would be replaced as SEC Network’s top sideline reporter, but Hart and Rodgers are being replaced by Murray and Schumacker.
The shakeup at the top of SEC Network’s football coverage isn’t the only one happening this fall. Front Office Sports also reported on Wednesday that ACC Network has changed its top announcing crew for the 2026 season, going with Wes Durham this fall along with former USC and Pittsburgh quarterback Max Browne.
An ESPN spokesperson declined to comment on Front Office Sports‘ report regarding these changes at the top of each network.
Murray was a 2-time second-team All-SEC quarterback at Georgia before being selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. After a whirlwind professional football career that ended in 2020, Murray has found a home in the booth, and now in 2026 he’ll be calling the top SEC games each week.
While there’s shuffling in the booth on SEC Network, SEC teams will be battling on the field for that coveted conference championship in December. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about the odds for those top SEC teams to win it all in 2026:
