It has been an active week in the Nancy Guthrie case, with new developments emerging about the ongoing investigation.
In a new interview with Megyn Kelly, former FBI agent Maureen O'Connell shared a major update about the individual known as "porch guy."
"I think they're close right now to pulling this case together—that's what my sources are telling me," O'Connell told Kelly. "Things are happening."

"One of the reasons it's taking so long is because whatever defense attorney takes this investigation and represents whoever they charge in this case, you have to operate under the assumption, like from day 1, you're doing your trial prep. ... You're going to have the greatest defense attorney in the world handling this case, whoever takes this case. So, you have to operate under the assumption that a couple of big chunks of your evidence may get tossed."

"I think we're getting closer. I actually really do think they are getting closer," O'Connell continued. When Kelly asked her to elaborate, she replied, "I think they're getting close to the 'porch guy.' And when they get the porch guy, the floodgates will swing open."
Kelly asked O'Connell how confident she is and she replied, "75%."
“Porch guy” refers to the person seen on Guthrie’s front stoop the night she disappeared. Security camera footage from Guthrie’s Google Nest was recovered early in the investigation and later shared publicly. Although the individual in the footage is wearing a balaclava, authorities have reportedly focused on limited visible features, including eye shape.
O’Connell’s comments come as reports circulate that one of the ransom notes allegedly indicated Guthrie had died.
For now, investigators have not confirmed any major developments, but O’Connell’s confidence that the case is “getting closer” has added new intrigue to an already closely watched investigation.
Guthrie, 84, has been missing since Feb. 1. Anyone with information is asked to call Tucson’s 88-Crime hotline at 1-520-882-7463 or the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
