“I want to see Pedro Pascalon this set," says Hunt, who plays AJ. "I'd love my bestie, Daisy Edgar-Jones, to turn up."
She continued on, sharing her thoughts on dating coworkers, a theme highly suggested by the trailer of Season 1. “Not suitable, but if it happens, just do it consciously.”
On the same topic, Ellis, who plays Bill, had a different response. “If it's meant to be, it's suitable.”
Executive Producer Charlie Grandy said his “big three” of work comedy television shows are Cheers, The Office and 30 Rock. Grandy is well known for his work on Saturday Night Live and The Office, where he originally met Kaling. While Kaling starred in The Office, she was also producing and writing behind the scenes. She and Grandy have done extensive work together over the years on shows such as Velma, The Mindy Project, Champions, and, now, Not Suitable for Work.

In talking with Kaling, she mentioned how The Office has helped her in other projects. “That’s where I was trained to write sitcoms. That’s where I learned joke per page, how to three-dimensionalize characters, how to write longing and poignancy while also having a very funny show.”
On the topic of dream guest stars, Avantika, who plays Abby, noted, “It would be really cool to get Lena Dunham on the show." The Mean Girls star even mentioned that Girls was a huge influence when filming Not Suitable for Work.
When asked about the period of life covered by the show, Kaling shared a thoughtful recollection of her early work experience.
“I can remember this period of my life from when I graduated from college until I got hired at The Office vividly. It was such an extreme of emotions. It was exciting to move to the city. I arrived feeling very entitled and confident, and just got the s—t kicked out of me and my confidence in terms of finding a job, and yet my friendships with my best friends were kind of what got me through.”
Kaling believes that whether you're facing the struggles of young work-life, relationship drama, or are simply looking for a good laugh, Not Suitable for Work is the fit for you.
