McCartney, who we now know as one of one of music's biggest stars, was just a teenager when he first crossed paths with future bandmate John Lennon in the late '50s. He was invited to join Lennon's band at the time, The Quarrymen, and eventually brought George Harrison into the fold. By 1960, they officially became The Beatles, with Ringo Starr later joining in 1962 to replace drummer Pete Best — and the rest was history.
The Beatles hit their stride in the mid-60s, when "Beatlemania" started to erupt across the globe. Between 1964 and 1965, the group released an array of songs that not only soared to the top of the charts, but also became era-defining classics. "Can't Buy Me Love," "A Hard Day's Night," "I Want to Hold YOur Hand," "She Loves You" and "Help!" are some of their most notable smash hits from around that time.
With Lennon and McCartney collaborating to write most of the band's music, the group was practically unstoppable throughout the rest of the decade, producing timeless anthems like "All You Need Is Love," and "Penny Lane," just to name a few.

He would go on to release more hits like "Maybe I'm Amazed," "Band on the Run," "Too Many People" and many, many more.
As he celebrates his 84th birthday on Thursday, June 18, McCartney is coming off the release of his newest solo album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, which dropped on May 29 and serves as his first full-length record since 2020's McCartney III. The new album debuted on the Billboard 200 chart last week, peaking at the No. 5 position. It hit No. 1 on the U.K. Albums chart, becoming McCartney's first No. 1 album in six years and the 24th chart-topping album of his career.
