A man is facing a first-degree murder charge after police say he shot and killed a man at a suburban automotive shop where he used to work, authorities announced Wednesday.
Police said 31-year-old Thornton man Devon A. Johnson is facing charges for the shooting that occurred at just before 1 p.m. on June 3 at Nippon Paint Automotive Americas in Lansing, Illinois, while several employees were inside the building.
When they arrived at the scene, police found 48-year-old Andrew Coleman dead inside an office in the building.
A manhunt ensued after the suspect, later identified as Johnson, fled the scene. A shelter-in-place order was issued shortly after the shooting and homes and schools were also locked down as a precaution.
Johnson was later apprehended in Chicago, police said.
