Ole Miss baseball just became the latest SEC team to see its season come to an end at the hands of Jabe Ruth.
The Rebels, after taking a 6-2 lead through the 4th inning, are headed home on account of Jabe Boroff and his red-hot Trojans, who won Sunday’s elimination game 12-8. In doing so, Troy advances to face the loser of North Carolina vs. West Virginia (who play tonight at 7 ET) on Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET.
Few teams have been able to stop Troy’s power this offseason. Ole Miss learned that the hard way on Sunday. After Hunter Elliott’s 4 solid innings of keeping the Trojans at bay, Troy finally broke through in the 5th inning, working 4 hits and 3 runs to chase Elliott out of the game.
Crucially, Elliott was called for a… questionable balk call with bases loaded, giving the Trojans their first run of the inning. Sean Darnell then drove home 2 more runs to bring the Trojans within one.
That balk call completely changed the game for Ole Miss, which fell apart at the seams in the innings to come. JP Robertson was brought on to relieve Elliott and was able to end the inning, then sat the Trojans down 1-2-3 in the 6th. However, Robertson gave up a solo shot to tie the game in the 7th, causing Mike Bianco to hand the ball to Walker Hooks to face Jabe Boroff.
That proved to be a massive mistake.
Boroff has been eating pitchers for breakfast this entire postseason, and he continued his hot streak against Hooks. Boroff placed a hit just inside the left field line, 2-run RBI double that gave Troy an 8-6 lead. They never looked back.

— Baseball America (@BaseballAmerica) June 14, 2026Troy added another run in the 7th before tacking on 3 runs in the 8th for good measure, including a pair of runs scored after Ole Miss lost a pop up in the sun.
It was that kind of day for the Rebels.
With that, Ole Miss’s season comes to a close at 41-23 on the year.
