The victims were identified as Tree, Lucas Brito Chaves, Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim, pilot Alexandre Souza, and pilot Charles Marsillac, who was in the other helicopter alone.
Sources say the crash occurred around 9 a.m. local time. One of the helicopters came down on a car dealership, igniting a fire that reportedly spread to approximately 20 electric vehicles parked on the property.
Brazilian aviation officials have launched an investigation into what caused the fatal collision. CNN Brasil reported that Brazil's Air Force, through its Aeronautical Accidents Investigation and Prevention Center (CENIPA), has begun gathering evidence and assessing the circumstances surrounding the incident.
