Jalen Brunson’s Bodega Order Is Pure New York City Vibes

New York City is riding high today after the Knicks secured their first NBA Finals title in 53 years with a historic win last night. Led by Finals MVP Jalen Brunson, the team wrapped up the series 4-1 over the San Antonio Spurs, setting off celebrations across the city and turning the streets into a series of giant block parties.

Ahead of last night's game, Brunson was asked by @kobecash.nyc about his go-to bodega order, giving fans a glimpse into how the Finals MVP starts his day. And while the star point guard lives just outside the city, his order includes one of New York City's most iconic breakfast staples: the Bacon, Egg and Cheese sandwich.

Just like his play style when the game is on the line, Jalen Brunson did not hesitate when asked by @kobecash.nyc to reveal his favorite bodega order. And as it turns out, his answer was about as New York as it gets.

"Well first of all, I'm not in the city, but if I did have a bodega order it would be a Peach Snapple, purple Doritos, then an everything bagel with egg and cheese, hash brown and spicy mayo," he said as Kobe stared up at him. "Toasted," he added with a smile.

As expected, New Yorkers had plenty to say about Brunson's order, with some fans roasting him for the spicy mayo addition and others ready to place the same order themselves.

"Bruh is lucky he wins games for us," one fan joked.

Another teased, "Ain't no spicy mayo in the bodega but we hear you Jay."

Not everyone was doling out the jokes, however. One fan wrote, "Everything bagel...this my guy," while another admitted, "Lowkey I need that order."

While plenty of New Yorkers will tell you a traditional bacon, egg and cheese (BEC) consists of a kaiser roll, scrambled eggs, American cheese, salt, pepper and ketchup, Brunson’s order still captures the spirit of a classic bodega breakfast. The Peach Snapple alongside Spicy Sweet Chili Doritos only makes it more authentically New York.

If you don’t live in New York or have a bodega or corner store nearby with a grill behind the deli counter, you can still recreate his breakfast sandwich at home. Start with a toasted everything bagel, cut it in half. From there, stack on scrambled eggs, American cheese and a hashbrown patty, then finish with a dollop of spicy mayo to bring it all together.

When Was the Last Time the Knicks Won an NBA Title?

Whether Brunson’s choice in bodega food helped fuel his run to a Knicks victory is still up for debate, but it’s a historic moment for New York City nonetheless. The Knicks haven’t won an NBA title since 1973, when they secured their second championship behind Walt Frazier and Willis Reed, leaders of the franchise’s only two titles.

Now among a legendary roster of NBA champions, Brunson and his teammates are currently sitting on top of the world. And with the 2026 victory likely to remain a major talking point for native New Yorkers and diehard Knicks fans for decades to come, this moment in franchise history will never be forgotten.
