Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has been rested for the upcoming home T20I series against Sri Lanka. Cricket West Indies (CWI) confirmed that the decision is part of a workload management plan to ensure the star pacer gets adequate rest before the two-match Test series against the same opposition.
The three-match T20I series between the West Indies and Sri Lanka will be played at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica, on June 11, 13, and 14. The series will be West Indies' first T20 assignment since their campaign in the 2026 T20 World Cup, which was held in India and Sri Lanka earlier this year.
Cricket West Indies have named a 15-member squad for the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka in Jamaica. The selectors made three changes to the squad that featured in the T20 World Cup 2026, bringing in Ackeem Auguste, Jewel Andrew, and Shamar Springer.
Auguste has played nine T20Is, Andrew has featured in five matches, and Springer has represented the West Indies in six T20Is. Johnson Charles, Quentin Sampson, and Jayden Seales have dropped out of the squad.
Alzarri Joseph has been rested as part of a workload management plan ahead of the upcoming Test series. Fast bowler Shamar Joseph, who returned home during the ODI series for personal reasons, is expected to rejoin the squad before the opening T20I.
The squad will be led by Shai Hope and features star players like Roston Chase, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Brandon King, Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, and Romario Shepherd.
Sri Lanka won the ODI series 1-0 after the second and third matches were washed out. After the T20Is, the two teams will switch to red-ball cricket for a two-match Test series. A tour match is scheduled to begin on June 18, followed by the first Test on June 25 and the second on July 3 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

West Indies head coach Daren Sammy believes the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka is an important step for the team following the T20 World Cup 2026. He said the series gives the players an opportunity to build on the positive qualities they showed during the global tournament.
"This series is an important one for us as it's our first since the World Cup in India, where the team played with passion, fight and the togetherness that West Indies cricket is built on.
