Southwest Airlines has been in a transformation phase over the last two years.
After doing away with its iconic unassigned seating arrangement and eliminating its free checked bags policy, loyalists were questioning the company's future. However, the airline's latest partnership is sure to make travelers happy.
Southwest Airlines and Singapore Airlines announced a new partnership that offers international travelers "single-ticket journeys to and from the United States."
The partnership will "seamlessly connect" international travelers from 120 airports in Southwest's network to 130 destinations in 35 countries and territories via three U.S. airports — Los Angeles (LAX), Seattle/Tacoma (SEA), and San Francisco (SFO).
"Singapore Airlines becomes the eighth carrier in our partnership portfolio exemplified by its quality and reach. These carriers are facilitating access to our network for a growing global audience drawn to our improved onboard product and increasingly choosing to fly with us," Andrew Watterson, Southwest Airlines Chief Operating Officer, said Monday. "Journeys that pair Southwest and Singapore Airlines not only connect new geographies but also create consistent high-quality Customer experiences."
In addition to Singapore Airlines, Southwest maintain active partnerships with Icelandair, China Airlines, EVA Air, Philippine Airlines, Condor Airlines, Turkish Airlines, and All Nippon Airways.
