"This is what Basic Instinct did for me because I had to dig into every dark corner until I was--I literally was sleepwalking when I was making this movie," she said. "I woke up three times in my car fully dressed [because] it was so traumatizing to play such a heavy character, such a dark person."

Stone said she's actually a goofy person. She learned from the role that she's a "light" person and it set her free.
The actress previously revealed to Vanity Fair that she had nightmares while filming. She also freaked out during the stabbing scene because the actor playing the victim didn't respond after they cut.
"I thought that the retractable fake ice pick had failed to retract and that I had in fact killed him," she explained. The actor passed out because of the number of times she hit his chest.
The iconic role got a strong reaction from the public. That made her realize people were projecting their darkness onto her because of her character.
"I understand that," she said. Stone said she's used to people coming up to her and treating her as one of her characters rather than herself. But the role solidified that she wasn't full of darkness to herself.
