In April 2026 Polish Ferrovial subsidiary Budimex won a US$40m contract to lay the foundations for the new airport.
It was announced in September 2025 that a Budimex and Strabag team were in the running to build the airport’s terminal building, with rival teams including Hochtief and Porr.
The airport will be located 50km west of Warsaw and will form part of the Port Polska megaproject, an overhaul of Poland’s transport network involving 2,000km of high-speed rail and highway upgrades.
The goal is to bring all major Polish cities to within a 2.5 hour journey from the airport.
