The Pope of Mope is back in business. After a string of canceled shows, Morrissey has confidently announced an extensive North American tour slated for summer and fall, kicking off in Las Vegas on Aug. 14 and hitting New York, D.C., Nashville, Houston, and more cities along the way before concluding Nov. 14 at the Darker Waves Festival in California.
View this post on InstagramThe newly announced run of shows supports his latest album, Make-Up Is a Lie, which dropped last March. The 14th studio album from the former The Smiths frontman also marked his first release with Warner Records in 30 years and became a commercial hit, peaking at No. 3 in the U.K. It features tracks such as “You’re Right, It’s Time,” “Headache,” and “The Monsters of Pig Alley,” a reflective cut on youth, aging, and longevity.
The tour also includes a stop at the CBGB festival in Brooklyn, where legendary acts including Pattie Smith, Sex Pistols, Bikini Kill, and Agnostic Front are all scheduled to perform.
“Anything could happen,” Morrissey told Free Press Houston about which tracks he’d be performing on tour. “That’s what makes it exciting for me. As long as it remains an arresting and unusual gesture then I’m certain I have my place. There are, remarkably, some people making music in 2026 who are not stiff human puppets. This is hard to believe, isn’t it?”
Morrissey’s tour announcement follows a turbulent stretch of cancellations, including shows postponed due to “credible assassination threats,” an “adverse reaction” to medication, and, earlier this year, “sleep deprivation.” Despite the history, Morrissey now says he feels in a more stable place as he prepares to return to the States.
“I feel very resilient, frequently happy, and I look okay,” he said. “There’s nothing more to ask for, is there? Or is there?”
