Payment processor Finix says it has launched a new integration with Visa’s Cybersource acceptance solution.
The integration, announced Thursday (May 28) is designed to let merchants combine Cybersource’s gateway and plugin ecosystem with Finix’s payments platform for processing, settlements, reconciliation, reporting and payouts.
“Businesses sometimes stay with legacy processors because replacing their entire payment stack seems too disruptive,” Finix Co-Founder and CEO Richie Serna said in a news release. “Our partnership with Cybersource enables merchants to keep the gateway setup they know while unlocking new ways to grow, upgrading what’s behind the scenes.”
According to the release, the integration is geared toward merchants who want to keep new and existing Cybersource configurations while upgrading their payments infrastructure. The companies say connecting Cybersource’s acceptance capabilities with Finix’s platform gives merchants the flexibility to scale, visibility into each transaction and the ability to manage all activity online, in-person and across channels through one platform.
“Merchants onboard through Finix, configure Cybersource during setup, and can start accepting payments through their preferred plugins or partner tools right away,” the release added. “Finix then manages all processing, settlements, payouts, and reconciliation, with detailed transaction-level insights available in the Finix Dashboard.”
PYMNTS spoke last fall with Emanuel Pleitez, head of finance at Finix, on the question of how much autonomy artificial intelligence (AI) should have in financial operations. The answer so far, he said, is limited, as most teams are wary of error rates and put AI in the role of assistant rather than agent.

“We live and die by those dollars and cents, and we just cannot get it wrong,” said Pleitez, interviewed for the PYMNTS B2B Payments 2025 event series “B2B.AI: The Architecture of Intelligent Money Movement.”
He added that, at least for now, human judgment is the ultimate control system. Finix’s AI investments center primarily on semi-automated solutions, such as custom GPTs trained on internal documents that can accelerate knowledge retrieval but don’t go as far as making financial decisions.
But in spite of the short-term caution, Pleitez’s long-term vision is optimistic, a future in which month-end closes run themselves.
“If I can create an agentic way of doing this, where we can just know that on the first of the month, the month-end close process is already going … and within a few days we close the books, great. Phenomenal. I want it to happen,” he said.
