Tim David makes bizarre choices; downplays Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar as batting partners ...Middle East

cricketaddictor - News

Tim David, the aggressive finisher from RCB, made some mind-boggling choices after that massive triumph in the First Qualifier against the Gujarat Titans. David's picks would shock any cricket fan to the core.

Tim David is one of RCB's best buys since the last season. The big-hitting middle-order batter from Australia has been a sensation since 2025 and has contributed significantly, especially towards the back end of the innings.

Though David himself missed out on the Qualifier against the Titans, he was happy to witness his teammates' commanding performance and is equally elated to have reached the IPL 2026 finals after winning the title last time with the Royal Challengers.

In his recent appearance on a Cricbuzz show, 'If you could,' Australian T20 specialist and RCB batter Tim David made some extraordinary choices; however, none of his choices seemed to do justice to the questions thrown at him.

He was asked who it could be if he could face one bowler from another era in the league. Tim David shocked all as he picked the likes of Virat Kohli in a joking gesture. However, what continued to be shocking was when David picked Trent Boult for stealing a shot from his copybook.

David picked Boult's 'flamingo block' as one of the shots that he, as a batter, could pick from among other players in the IPL. He left out the likes of Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and many more and shockingly picked Boult.

Not Captain Rajat Patidar, Tim David picks this RCB batter as his batting partner

One of the major highlights of the interview was a direct question that asked who he would pick as a batting partner if he were assigned to chase a score of 100 in just five overs.

He claimed that after Qualifier 1, anyone would opt for Rajat Patidar, the RCB skipper, who played a blistering knock of 93 off just 33 balls; however, David picked West Indies all-rounder and RCB teammate Romario Shepherd as his batting partner.

Though Shepherd could not hand promising finishes to them this season, he remains one of the cleanest strikers of the cricket ball. However, he also had the option of Virat Kohli, the chasemaster, whom he could pick as his partner.

David picks 'Perth' as an overseas venue for an IPL fixture

Tim David was asked if he could shift one of the IPL matches to an overseas venue and, if so, which ground it would be. To this, the big Australian claimed that he would love to move it to the Optus Stadium in Perth.

He also added that if he could create an unbreakable record in the IPL, then it would not be a batting record, but he aspires to end up with the best bowling figures of 10/0. It seemed David's answers actually had nothing to do with his aspirations but were simply wild dreams.

At the end of it, he explained how, despite being credited in the role of a finisher, David loves to bat at the top of the order and would grab it if any such opportunity came his way.
