Harmanpreet Kaur optimistic about England series results, despite missing key all-rounders

The Indian women’s team will begin their 3-match T20I series against England on Thursday, and their foremost job will be to find the best combination, leading up to the T20 World cup 2026. That, since the team will be devoid of a pace-bowling all-rounder like Amanjot Kaur and Kashvee Gautam, who are out due to injuries.

England series one to test combinations

Speaking ahead of the series, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur opened up on the injury misses, but clarified, that the management has worked out a few combinations. “Amanjot and Kashvee have been very impressive talent for us, but unfortunately as they’re not available, we do have a lot of combinations in our mind and let’s see what is working for us.

“These three matches will give us more clarity going ahead to the T20 World Cup because earlier – as Amanjot was there, Kashvee was there – we knew how things are going to be but now, new players in the side and hopefully we’ll try to give them as much opportunity so that they can be ready for the T20 World Cup.”

Harmanpreet speaks about decent balance in team

Another issue for the Indian team would be, that Yastika Bhatia is coming back after a long injury layoff, Radha Yadav hasn’t played a T20I since last year, that only raises questions on the selection. Yet the captain is confident of getting some good results, with what she calls a ‘decent balance’ in the side.

“So I think we have got decent balance in the side and it’s only about giving opportunity to them and take the best out from them. This series will give us a lot of clarity before the World Cup and I think these three matches are very important and we’ll try to get the best out of the series.”

India squad: Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Smriti Mandhana (vice-captain), Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Bharti Fulmali, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (wicket-keeper), Shree Charani, Yastika Bhatia (wicket-keeper), Nandani Sharma, Arundhati Reddy, Renuka Singh, Kranti Gaud, Shreyanka Patil, Radha Yadav
