In MasterChef: Global Gauntlet’s first team challenge, the chefs competed in a FIFA World Cup 2026 challenge as the cooks teamed up with the U.S. Soccer Federation to serve lunch to 100 hungry kids coming straight off the field plus special guest judge Mauricio Pochettino, Head Coach, Team US Men’s National Team.
Gordon Ramsay served as the honorary goalkeeper in the all-new "Team Pitch to Plate" episode.
As the winner of last week’s challenge, Heidi Muston was given the task of dividing the cooks into two teams: Team Blue and Team Red. Heidi, of course, is on Team Africa, and she chose to partner with Team Americas for the red team. That left Team Africa and Team Asia-Pacific as Team Blue, which gave them an advantage of 10 cooks to Team Red's 8. Dave Patera was nominated as team captain for the red team; Ted Pappas for blue.
The winning team captain of the challenge was awarded the third Immunity Pin of the season. The winner takes home the MasterChef trophy, but also $250,000.

Team Red and Team Blue were each tasked with providing the kids with a protein and two sides. The red team chose to make a fried chicken sandwich, mac and cheese, and sliced apples with caramel. The blue team made smash burgers, chips, orzo, and lemon cookies.
When the votes were counted, the kids voted for the Red Team as their favorite food, which meant that Dave was awarded the Immunity Pin.
“I am shocked,” Dave said. “But even though things went very badly at some points during the cook, everyone stepped up and we got the job done.”

The three Blue Team members that Gordon put into the bottom three were Ted, Nico and Daniel. Despite the fact that Nico and Daniel caused the blue team’s grill to catch on fire, the judges sent home Ted, who as the coach was responsible for the lack of organization and control on his team.
“It’s alright guys,” Ted said. “I was the captain and I didn’t pull it together. It hurts being eliminated. I feel like I let my team down. I just didn’t come through as the captain.”
