The Penn State Edge decided to follow defensive coordinator Jim Knowles to Knoxville and was reportedly paid a hefty NIL price ($3.5 million) for his commitment. Reports in April said that Coleman had never been so far from home and was having trouble acclimating to the change.
Coleman’s payment was largely based on potential, with other suitors such as Ohio State also gunning for his services. The former 4-star prospect fits into Knowles’ system and totaled 8 tackles with a sack, 3 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble and 2 fumble recoveries last season across 8 appearances.
