Rod Stewart, one of rock's most influential figures, has opened up about the likelihood of stepping away from the grueling touring lifestyle. The singer, who is currently on a world tour, recently revealed in an interview that this might be the last trek he will ever do, leaving longtime rock fans saddened but supportive.
The former Faces frontman is currently traveling the globe for a massive itinerary dubbed the One Last Time world tour. The run originally commenced in 2024 and has since been extended through 2026, operating alongside his The Encore Shows Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
During an interview with talkSPORT on May 18, Stewart was asked about touring, to which he hinted at this being his last run. “I’ve got 40-odd shows this year and that’s not really a lot,” he told hosts Jeff Stelling and Ray Parlour. “And I’m touring the U.K. next year and doing the O2 and that will probably be it, I think. I’ll have to do something new…come on your show more often.”

The rocker, who has previously denied past rumors that he would ever retire, went on to share his affinity for performing, claiming that there is no better rush as a musician. "There's nothing like it," he said. "There's no drink, alcohol or drug that will give you that buzz, to see all those smiling faces out there... send them all home happy is just God's gift. It's wonderful."
While his upcoming dates will not conclude his live career entirely, they will signal the end of his large-scale international travel. In 2024, the two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee clarified his future plans in an Instagram post, telling fans not to worry about a total disappearance but revealing that moving forward there will not be any more wide-scale global productions.
“This will be the end of large-scale world tours for me, but I have no desire to retire. I love what I do, and I do what I love,” Stewart wrote. “I’m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 meters in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.”
The 81-year-old star has enjoyed a prolific career since making his debut at the age of 26. Throughout his six-decade music career, he has contributed to several major bands—including the Jeff Beck Group and Faces—alongside pursing a highly acclaimed solo career that yielded four No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. His vast accolades and industry reverence attest to his unyielding passion for his craft, offering a clear reason why he remains uninterested in a definitive retirement from music.
