Silo’s Juliette Nichols has never been afraid to get her hands dirty – but her new position means she’s now taking up an entirely new challenge.
In a first look teaser about what lies ahead shared by Rotten Tomatoes, a quick clip of Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson) confirms she’ll be taking up a new mantle as Mayor of the Silo.
With just over a month to go until Silo returns for season 3 on July 3, the snippet of what’s to come sees Juliette getting dressed in a smart power suit, pausing to look at the scar on her neck.
Someone then knocks at the door and calls out to her off-screen, calling her “Madam Mayor”.
This is a massive leap from the mechanic we first met her as back in season one, where she worked deep within the lower levels of the underground bunker which was built to protect humanity after the world outside “turned to ruin”.
She quickly became a Sheriff after the previous one left the silo (seemingly perishing), but continued to hide away from social occasions in favour of solitude whenever she could.
Now, it seems she’s embracing positions of authority – which couldn’t come at a more important time, with those living within the silo becoming increasingly restless.
Season 3 is based on Shift, the second of Hugh Howey's Wool novels from which the show draws its inspiration.
The official synopsis for the season reads: "In the present, Juliette Nichols (Ferguson) survives her forced 'cleaning' but returns with memory loss as the silo recovers from rebellion and faces a dangerous new threat.
"Meanwhile, in the 'Before Times,' journalist Helen Drew (Jessica Henwick) and Congressman Daniel Keene (Ashley Zukerman) uncover a conspiracy that pulls them into a chain of events with catastrophic, irreversible consequences."
Alongside Ferguson, returning cast members include Common, Harriet Walter, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, Alexandria Riley, Shane McRae, Remmie Milner, Rick Gomez, Billy Postlethwaite, and Clare Perkins are set to return.
Steve Zahn, who made his debut as Solo in season 2, will also be back.
Joining the series for the first time are a host of new castmembers too, including Laura Innes, Jessica Brown Findlay, Morven Christie, Reed Birney and Matt Craven.
