The final 2 games of Kentucky‘s head-to-head series with Gonzaga have been canceled.
The programs mutually announced that news on Wednesday, stating the series will be discontinued “to allow each program freedom to reevaluate future scheduling priorities, including conference obligations and nonconference opportunities.”
This ends what was initially announced as a 6-game deal between the Wildcats and Bulldogs. The series was previously scheduled to end with a trip to Rupp Arena in 2026-27 and a game at McCarthey Athletic Canter in 2027-28.

The Wildcats then responded with an overtime win the following season before Gonzaga pulled off a dominant win in Nashville this past season.

Prior to this series, Gonzaga and Kentucky had never met on the hardwood.
The Wildcats are still building out their 2026-27 roster. They are currently awaiting a final decision from Malachi Moreno, who entered the 2026 NBA Draft but has maintained his collegiate eligibility.
Although the series has been canceled, Kentucky still has a difficult schedule for Mark Pope’s third season in charge. The Wildcats are currently slated to play Kansas, North Carolina, Indiana and Louisville during the upcoming campaign.
