The Chicago Bears’ schedule is a tough one. But with a challenging schedule comes some worthwhile perks, including a fair amount of primetime appearances. There are seven standalone games on Chicago’s schedule, including a pair of games on Monday Night Football. And while the NFL has created new premium viewing windows for marquee games, there is nothing like the vibes that come when your favorite team plays on MNF.
For the Bears, their first Monday Night Football matchup comes in Week 3 when it hosts the Philadelphia Eagles. When these two teams squared off in 2025, the Bears won a Black Friday affair on Philly’s home turf. After entering that game hoping Chicago could hold its own against the Super Bowl champs, the win established the Bears as a team to be taken seriously down the stretch. That the rematch between the NFC North and NFC East winners comes early this season gives me goosebumps thinking about the kind of drama we’ll see between these two teams.
As a bonus, the game will be simulcast nationwide on ABC. The Monday Night Football matchup between the Bears and Eagles is Chicago’s first primetime matchup of the season, but it certainly won’t be its last. Heck, it isn’t even the team’s last MNF appearance. The Bears travel to Seattle to face the Seahawks to wrap up Week 8 on Monday Night Football. Free-agent addition Coby Bryant returns to where he spent the first four years of his career. This one has the potential to be a statement game for Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson and his offense.

The folks at CBS Sports ranked the 17 Monday Night Football matchups by watchability. As you might expect, both of the Bears’ MNF games finished in the top half of the rankings.
Here are my top-5 MNF games that don’t include Chicago’s football team:
WEEK 17: Texans at Packers — A January hate-watch as Houston travels to what I imagine will be a frigid Lambeau Field for a late-season battle could be absolute cinema. WEEK 10: Chargers at Ravens — This could’ve been the Harbaugh bowl had John not gotten sacked by Baltimore in January. Even still … a matchup pitting one MVP (Lamar Jackson) against a potential MVP candidate (Justin Herbert) could make for great television. WEEK 4: Falcons at Saints — NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell reportedly wanted this game to commemorate the 20 year anniversary of the Saints’ return to the SuperDome after Hurricane Katrina. There is so much potential storytelling to be done here. Football fans can’t afford to miss it. WEEK 15: Patriots at Chiefs — How healthy will Patrick Mahomes be at this point of the year? WIll Drake Maye be in the hunt for MVP consideration again? Where will these teams be in terms of the playoff race? WEEK 5: Bills at Rams — This is one that I predict will win (or lose) someone their fantasy matchup depending on which team has Josh Allen or Matthew Stafford.SUBSCRIBE TO THE BN BEARS PODCAST: Apple | Spotify | YouTube
