Mr. Aaron Evitts

 

With many family members present in the home, Mr. Aaron Evitts age 82 of the Russell Hill Community, his journey on earth ended at 7:10 a.m. at his Thomas Ridge Lane home. He was pronounced deceased at 8:13 a.m. Saturday morning May 16, 2026 by Heather Lowe with Gentiva Hospice of Livingston.

    Funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home will be conducted on Tuesday afternoon May 19th at 3 p.m. with Frank Batson, Jared Flores, and Kelly Clement Page officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Shade Cemetery.

    The Evitts family will receive friends only on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the 3 p.m. funeral services at Sanderson in Carthage.

    Mr. Evitts was one of five children, three sons and two daughters, and the last surviving child of the late Sam Evitts who died April 25, 1978 at the age of 68 and Fannie Loretta Petty Evitts who died October 11, 1995 at the age of 86 and was born Aaron Key Evitts in the Pleasant Shade Community on May 14, 1944.

    Siblings preceding him in death were Claude David Evitts who died as the result of an accidental drowning at the age of 29 on May 20, 1969, Bobby Gene Evitts, who died March 20, 2016 at the age of 85, Audrey Caroly Price who died January 8, 2022 at the age of 75, Wilma Dean Evitts Price who died February 1, 2025 at the age of 91.

    Mr. Evitts was also preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Charlotte Elaine Lanius Evitts who died January 13, 2009 at the age of 65. Their son, Richard Evitts Sr., Lance Corporal U. S. Marines, preceded Aaron in death at the age of 53 on August 16, 2017. In addition, a step-son, Kory Clement died November 29, 2016 at the age of 51.

    A granddaughter, Greycin Elaine Oaks preceded Mr. Evitts in death at the age of 12 on February 16, 2018 from flu complications.

    Mr. Evitts was a kind and gentle spirited gentleman and was an accomplished woodworker, cabinetmaker and home builder.

    The owner of Evitts Construction Company, a trim carpenter business, for over forty years, he retired in 2011, but continued to do small jobs for friends.

    He was a member of the Church of Christ and for many years his family attended the Montrose Church of Christ.

    He was united at the Pleasant Shade Café on April 11, 2012 to the former New York native and Defeated Creek Community resident, Doreen Erma Woodward Clement. The ceremony was performed by Carol Hunter of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

    Surviving in addition to his wife Doreen of only fourteen years are his four children, Lisa Thompson and husband Barry of Filmore, California, Sharon Evitts Troutt and husband Hollis of the Hermitage Springs Community, Chris Evitts and wife Missy of Gallatin, Traci Oaks and husband Ben of White House; four step-children Kelly Clement Page and husband Gary of the Rockvale Community in Rutherford County, Katy Clement and husband Michael of Centennial, Colorado, Kerry Clement of Gallatin, Kamy Clement Leeret  and fiancé Matt of Aurora, Colorado; eight grandchildren, Richard Evitts Jr., Daniel, Samantha, Michela, Josh Jonathan, Bishop and Kolvin; fourteen great-grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren and thirteen step great grandchildren.

    The Evitts family requests memorials to the Pleasant Shade Cemetery Mowing Fund.
