The NBA playoffs continue apace! It was a tale of two very disparate results on Friday.
James Harden and Donovan Mitchell’s inefficient shooting (Mitchell went just 6-of-20 from the field, while Harden shot a better 6-of-13 but had eight turnovers) and 11 combined turnovers doomed the Cleveland Cavaliers in a potential closeout Game 6 against the Detroit Pistons.
Cleveland fell 115-94 at home, and the clearly flawed Pistons now have the momentum in the series heading into a do-or-die Game 7. The Cavs feel like the more talented team, but Detroit’s defense could prove the difference. On the other side of the Eastern Conference bracket, the New York Knicks will have enjoyed a whole week off before they have to play the winner of this series.
It was a different story in the Western Conference. The San Antonio Spurs flattened the Minnesota Timberwolves once again, closing them out 139-109 behind a masterful 32-point, 11-rebound, six-assist showcase from Stephon Castle.
Now, San Antonio advances to a Western Conference Finals clash against the Oklahoma City Thunder, who swept the Los Angeles Lakers in their own semifinal series. All-NBA Thunder wing Jalen Williams announced on his YouTube that he’ll be back healthy from the left hamstring strain that has sidelined him for most of the playoffs thus far.
Here are today’s Chicago Bulls Bullets.

Sky guard Rickea Jackson. © Patrick Breen/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Chicago forward Matas Buzelis sat for his second annual year-end interview with the Bulls’ video team. It was fascinating to see how much his answers changed year-over-year. His tattoo tally leapt from three in April 2025 to 20-plus now! He also reveals that Patrick Williams is “lowkey” one of his funniest teammates. Our 2-1 Chicago Sky dropped their first game of the 2026 season, a 91-83 decision against former Chicago Finals MVP forward Kahleah Copper’s Phoenix Mercury, thanks to a 7-0 closing Phoenix run. New Sky forward Rickea Jackson looked terrific, scoring 29 points on 10-of-22 shooting from the field and 5-of-6 shooting from the foul line, six boards, and three rejections. Across her first three contests for her new club, the 25-year-old has been averaging a stellar 22.0 points on .389/.316/.818 shooting splits, 6.0 boards and 2.7 dimes.KEA DOIN’ IT ALL ?#skytown pic.twitter.com/5KB5rg7GVq
— Chicago Sky (@chicagosky) May 16, 2026 Chicago Sky point guard Courtney Vandersloot, 37, is projected to return from her ACL surgery by July at the absolute earliest, per Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune. The five-time All-Star, who won titles with Chicago and the New York Liberty, may struggle for consistent minutes in the backcourt behind Skylar Diggins, Natasha Cloud, and Jacy Sheldon this year — but she’s still a shoo-in for the Hall of Fame whenever her career ends. According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, the NBA has revealed that it will announce this season’s MVP on Sunday night, in tandem with the finale of the East semis. 2025 MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder, 2024 MVP Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, and San Antonio Spurs two-time All-Star center Victor Wembanyama are the three finalists for the award. The No Ceilings NBA Show has laid out a new, Chicago-skewing big board and mock draft for 2026 — breaking down 10 prospects the Bulls should target with the No. 4 pick, the No. 15 selection, and via their two second-round picks. And yes, it all adheres to Bryson Graham’s “SLAP” player profile approach. No Ceilings suggests that North Carolina power forward Caleb Wilson, who’s expected to fall to the No. 3-4 range, could actually rank as Graham’s No. 2-favorite prospect behind only BYU small forward AJ Dybantsa. Caleb Wilson © David Banks-Imagn Images In his latest mailbag, Bulls.com Hall of Famer Sam Smith wonders if the Bulls should trade their No. 4 pick or stay put and see how the top three shakes out. Smith is rooting for Wilson to fall to Chicago over Boozer, thanks to his defensive upside. The 2026 NBA Draft Combine in Chicago may have helped North Carolina State guard Matt Able, Connecticut center Tarris Reed Jr. and Baylor swingman Cameron Carr’s draft standings, according to Jeff Borzello and Jeremy Woo of ESPN. The stocks of Arizona forward Koa Peat and Vanderbilt guard Tyler Tanner have slipped. Woo and Borzello note that a pair of early-entry prospects, Florida center Ruebne Chinyelu and Louisville forward Flory Bidunga, may return to college after all. SB Nation’s Ricky O’Donnell agrees that Tanner and Peat number among the 2026 Combine’s losers, along with Houston point guard Kingston Flemings and Illinois shooting guard Keaton Wagler. Flemings’ measurements could mean he’s due for a drop in the draft. Wagler’s size, too, was a bit underwhelming. There are concerns about his athleticism thanks to a dearth of dunks and a low steal output. O’Donnell also lists seven “winners” of the draft, including a pair of Michigan bigs who could be available for Chicago right around that No. 15 range…BLEACHER NATION: Go Ad Free | Subscribe to the BN Newsletter
