A suspect was arrested in last Sunday’s shooting of Mizzou star running back Ahmad Hardy.
Rashodrick Harris, a 20-year-old from Wayne County, Miss., was taken into custody on Thursday night in Paducah, Ky. He was awaiting extradition, according to Sgt. Macon Davis of the Laurel (Miss.) Police Department.
Harris was wanted in connection with the shooting of Hardy last Sunday at an outdoor concert in Mississippi. Hardy was shot in the upper leg while he was attending the concert held at a biker club in Laurel, which is about an hour and a half away from Hardy’s hometown of Oma, Miss.
The All-American, who rushed for 1,649 yards and 16 touchdowns last season for Mizzou, underwent surgery in Mississippi before returning to Mizzou’s campus in Columbia on Wednesday. At least 1 other person was injured in the shooting.
Davis said that Harris will be charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault, and Davis also noted that the investigation is ongoing and that more arrests in the shooting are still possible.
In addition to Harris, 3 other people of interest were taken into custody. They have all been released with no charges against them, according to Davis.
Hardy’s status for the 2026 season is uncertain at this point, according to Mizzou head coach Eli Drinkwitz.
Davis said he didn’t know why Harris was in Paducah, Ky., which is about a 7-hour drive from Laurel. An arrest warrant was issued for Harris following an interview with a witness to the shooting. Laurel police identified Harris as a suspect with the use of security video.
