The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, match no.57, is between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in New Raipur. Toss was delayed due to the wet outfield, and ahead of the game, RCB’s wicket-keeper batter Jitesh Sharma has opened about the poor form while speaking with JioStar.
Jitesh Sharma has been going through a rough patch. The vice-captain of the side has failed to register a single half-century this season, and most of his scores are single digits. Though his form has not let RCB down, as the team have performed well and are in a good position in the points table.
Some former cricketers have questioned the role of Jitesh Sharma in the team. However, shutting down all the critics, Jitesh has replied that the franchise is happy with him and there are no chances of him being dropped from the squad.
Jitesh said, ahead of the clash, "Some people see the glass half empty, some see it half full. Similarly, I understand that I’m not scoring runs right now, but I focus on how much effort I can put into my keeping, how much feedback I can give the team or how much I can help the captain. I focus on the things I can do instead of overthinking the things that are not happening."
I focus on what’s going well- Jitesh on wicket-keeping
Jitesh also praised Krunal Pandya and was asked how he deals with the bouncers coming from a spinner. He also discussed about the bowling unit of RCB and his wicket-keeping skills as the keeper has been brilliant behind the stumps.
"I focus on what’s going well. (On his keeping, especially when Krunal is bowling) I wouldn’t say difficult, it’s exciting because normally you keep wickets in a certain way, but they’ve brought something new into the sport. So as a cricketer, it excites you when something new comes up. It's exciting, keeping for Hazlewood, Bhuvi bhai, and Krunal bhai."
"Nobody can ever be 100% sure about how a wicket will play. As the game progresses, you have to keep adapting. Yes, I stay close to the wicket, but still you can’t be completely sure. Your intent, however, should always be right, that’s the key."
