Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) head coach Andy Flower has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for breaching the IPL 2026 Code of Conduct during RCB’s stupendous win over Mumbai Indians (MI) in Raipur on Sunday.
The IPL confirmed that Flower committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.3 of the Code of Conduct, which deals with the “use of an audible obscenity during a match.” The incident took place during the 17.2 over of RCB’s chase when Flower was seen involved in a heated exchange with the fourth umpire near the dugout.
The controversy erupted after a confusing boundary call involving Krunal Pandya. Facing spinner AM Ghazanfar, Krunal lofted the ball towards wide long-on where Naman Dhir completed an athletic relay effort near the ropes. Dhir parried the ball towards Tilak Varma while stepping beyond the boundary line, but Tilak did not complete the catch and instead appeared to signal a six.
Initially, there seemed to be uncertainty among the players and support staff regarding whether Dhir had touched the boundary cushions during the effort. However, replays later confirmed that the fielder had managed to avoid contact with the ropes. With Krunal cramping badly, he did not attempt a run and the delivery was eventually recorded as a dot ball.

The IPL stated that Flower admitted to “speaking aggressively with the fourth umpire” and accepted the sanction handed down by match referee Amit Sharma.
Under IPL rules, Level 1 offences are final and binding, meaning there is no scope for appeal once the player or official accepts the punishment. Despite the confusion and dugout frustration, RCB managed to hold their nerve in the final over to pull off a thrilling two-wicket win on the last ball of the match.
While Flower grabbed umpire’s attention off the field, it was Bhuvneshwar Kumar who emerged as RCB’s hero on it.
The veteran pacer first starred with the ball, picking up four wickets to restrict Mumbai Indians. Then, with RCB needing nine runs from the final three deliveries, Bhuvneshwar smashed a crucial six over point off Raj Angad Bawa to swing the match back in Bengaluru’s favour. It wasn’t a wild hoick but Bhuvi guided one stupendous six over the covers which was dubbed as “shot of the match” by Krunal Pandya, who made a vital 73.
RCB eventually completed the chase on the final ball and climbed to the top of the IPL 2026 points table with their seventh win of the season.
