Star Indian cricketers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shafali Verma have been handed massive blows amid their fast-growing cricketing careers. The two top-order batters of the men’s and women’s teams have been handed notices by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) following ‘whereabouts failure’ of their dope tests.
The duo, who are part of NADA’s Registered Testing Pool (RTP), are required to provide specific details regarding their location and a daily one-hour window where they can be contacted for tests.
But both the players seem to have breached the protocol, as reported by several media, including PTI. While Shafali Verma was unavailable when contacted on November 7, 2025 by Dope Control Officers (DCOs), Jaiswal was not found at his location on December 17, 2025.
“Notices have been issued to the concerned athletes, and the same has been intimated to the national federation (the BCCI) and the ICC,” a source told news agency PTI.

Following the miss, the NADA sought explanations from both players in February this year but received no response. While this is not the first instance of a missed test in Indian cricket history, the consequences if proven guilty are strict. Under the anti-doping regulations, if an athlete records three whereabouts failures, which includes both missed tests and filing failures within a period of 12 months, it constitutes of violation. Such actions can result in the athlete’s suspension from the spot for up to 2 years.
In the case of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shafali Verma, the duo has been granted a 7-day period to submit an explanation before further action is taken. Earlier in 2019, Indian batter Prithvi Shaw was handed a suspension by NADA after he was found to have consumed a banned substance, Terbutaline, in a cough syrup following his test samples during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019.
Currently, NADA’s RTP list features 13 Indian cricketers, among them Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant.
