Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Speedo Sectionals champion Myra Li has announced her verbal commitment to swim and study at Northeastern University beginning in the fall of 2027. She publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:

I’m thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Northeastern University! Incredibly grateful to my family, friends, coaches, and teammates who have supported me along the way. Thank you Coach Roy and Coach Bryce for this amazing opportunity. Go Huskies!

A junior at Nexus International School in Singapore, Li conducts her studies remotely and swims club year-round with Falfins Swimming in Colorado Springs, CO, where she specializes in backstroke and sprint freestyle.

Li wrapped up the 2025-26 short course season at Speedo Sectionals – Boise, her first time swimming at sectionals, and clocked all of her current lifetime bests. She won the 100 back (55.30), took silver in the 200 back (2:00.75), fourth in the 100 free (51.86), eighth in the 50 free (24.14), and ninth in off-event 200 IM (2:07.11). On relays, she helped Falfins win the 200 free relay (24.16 leadoff), 400 free relay (51.96 leadoff), and 400 medley relay (56.61 leadoff).

Over the course of the past six months, she dropped nearly eight seconds in the 200 back, over two seconds in the 100 back and 100 free, and a second and a half in the 50 free, and she still has another full season before heading off to college.

    Top SCY Times:

    50 Freestyle: 24.14 100 Freestyle: 51.86 100 Backstroke: 55.30 200 Backstroke: 2:00.75

A Division I program, Northeastern competes in the Coastal Athletic Association, with the women’s team placing fourth out of eight teams at this past season’s conference championships. Based on the results from the meet, Li’s lifetime bests would have placed seventh in the 100 back, won the ‘B’ final of the 200 back, and landed in the ‘C’ final of the 100 free, giving her a chance to be an immediate contributor for the Huskies. Additionally, it took a time of 23.85 to score in the 50 free, putting her a couple of tenths shy in that event.

On the team itself, Li would have ranked second in the 200 back, third in the 100 back, and sixth in the 50 and 100 free this past season, though with recruiting for both the 2026 and 2027 classes still unfolding, roster turnover still to play out, and 18 months for her to keep improving, it’s too early for projections. What can be said is that among current Husky recruits she is the fastest incoming backstroker across both classes, one of two sub-56 performers in the 100 back and the only one under 2:02 in the 200.

Li joins 23.28/50.81/1:50.69 freestyler and 56.6/2:04.7 backstroker Lola Frey as the only publicized commits in the Huskies’ class of 2030 so far.
