‘90s Country Icon Gives New Health Update After Postponing Shows Over ‘Severe Illness’: ‘It Breaks My Heart’

LeAnn Rimes may be facing a health setback, but that hasn’t stopped her from celebrating the anniversary of her fifth studio album, Sittin’ on Top of the World, which turned 28 on May 5, 2026.

Taking to Instagram on the evening of May 5, the actress and pop-country superstar, 43, shared a video post of herself singing the lyrics to her fan-favorite hit song, “Commitment,” which appears as the opening track on 1998’s Sittin’ on Top of the World. The video offers fans a sneak peek into Rimes’ rehearsals as she prepares to get back on the road after postponing a series of concerts due to “Covid-related severe laryngitis.”

Alongside the clip, the Mississippi native gave fans an update on her condition, writing, “[I’m] still working my way through voice rest, trying to get myself back to health as quickly as possible.”

Segueing from the update, she then added: “But [I] couldn’t let the Sitting on top of the World anniversary pass by.”

“I know this is one of your favorites that I haven't played in a while. Here’s a little peek into rehearsals as we reworked and reimagined this gem,” Rimes wrote. “Hoping to add it to the setlist when I can get back out on the road ?.”

Rimes’ post comes just days after she was forced to postpone a series of her 30 Years of Blue Tour dates due to what she described as “severe illness.” Spokane, Washington and Seattle, Washington were the first round of shows that have been rescheduled, with Rimes moving the dates to March 31 and June 2, respectively. New dates can also be found on Rimes' official website.

“I am truly heartbroken to have to reschedule, and I am so very grateful for your kindness and continued support as I recover. I look forward to being back on stage and seeing you very soon. Love, LeAnn,” She captioned in the April 29th Instagram Story.

Later in the week, Rimes revealed more show cancellations, which included Waukegan, IL (now moved to Nov. 6) and Wilmington, OH (now moved to Nov. 7). Refunds are available to those who cannot make the new dates, and original tickets will remain valid. In her post, Rimes also shared her doctor-given diagnosis, telling fans she has been battling a case of ‘severe laryngitis’ followed by a bout with covid.

“After a diagnosis of covid leading to severe laryngitis, I’m so sorry to have to reschedule next week’s shows,” she captioned an Instagram Story previously shared byParade. “A visit to my doctor for a scope of my vocal cords has confirmed the news, and I wanted to tell you as soon as I could.”

“It breaks my heart, having to reschedule these shows,” she added. “This is sadly out of my hands until I get this under control.”

Rimes’ latest update shows promise that she’s turned the corner. And, fans and followers shared their messages of support as she continues to recover from illness.
