If you’re a fighting game fan and have been refreshing the timeline today, then you have seen Injustice 3 rumours flying around today, but why are people talking about it?
The last Injustice game, Injustice 2, came out in 2017, and developers NetherRealm Studios have been busy with Mortal Kombat games every since, making the prospect of a third game seem increasingly unlikely, as there had only been a four year gap between the first and second games.
Hopes were raised when a MultiVersus dataminer supposedly uncovered evidence that a new Injustice game was in development, but almost a year went by without so much as a peep.
That is, until 29 April, when MP1st reported that Injustice 3 is indeed in development with NetherRealm Studios helming the project.
MP1st spotted a resume from an artist employed at Warner. Bros Games that included Injustice 3 as part of their listed experience, alongside Hogwarts Legacy 2 and "2 Unannounced Projects".
This is what is known in the industry as 'a bit of an oopsie', but it comes as much welcome news for DC fans, who haven’t received many good games in recent years, save for the VR game, Batman: Arkham Shadow.
The upcoming LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight looks like it will be terrific too, so it does seem like Warner Bros. Games is starting to course-correct after misfires such as Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which Radio Times Gaming editor Rob Leane called "dead on arrival".
