In Hope Valley: 1874, Rebecca Clarke (Lenz) travels with her 11-year-old daughter (Mila Morgan) to the Canadian frontier in search of a new life. When she realizes the boarding house she purchased is not as advertised, she has no choice but to accept help from local rancher Tom Moore (Ayres).

Drawing on her own experience, Hattie (Jill Hennessy) offered caring advice to help Rebecca come to terms with her loss. Olivia (Roan Curtis) encouraged Alexander (Lachlan Quarmby) when he is drawn in to mediate a contentious land dispute between Tom and Archie Doyle (Ryan Robbins). Meanwhile, Lars (Grayson Guernsey) and Rachel (Matreya Scarrwener) make an important decision about their future.

In "Desperado," this week's all-new episode of Hope Valley: 1874, Rebecca and Tom are taken captive by Eli (Vincent Muller), an injured young man who is on the run from vigilantes, but each have different ideas on how to handle the crisis. Meanwhile, Olivia convinces Alexander to accompany her on a fishing trip, and an overwhelmed Rachel leans on Hattie for support with baby Ned.
