FBI Director Kash Patel is expected to reveal new details about the man accused of opening fire during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner — including exactly how authorities say he moved in the hours leading up to the terrifying attack Saturday night.
Patel is set to speak at a press conference alongside Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro after a magistrate signed off on the criminal complaint against alleged gunman Cole Allen.
Speaking to FOX News earlier Monday, Patel teased investigators have already pieced together Allen’s movements before the shooting.
He said, “We have all of those questions answered, and that’s why I wanted to present, with the Attorney General, at the press conference later today, once the magistrate has signed off on the criminal complaint.”

Authorities previously said Allen — a 31-year-old from Torrance, California — allegedly charged through a security checkpoint inside the Washington Hilton while firing his weapon Saturday night … as the White House Correspondents’ Dinner was underway inside. President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance and several members of Trump’s cabinet were attending the event at the time.
Allen was formally arraigned today on three charges in D.C. federal court … including attempting to assassinate the president, transporting a firearm and ammunition with intent to commit a felony, and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence. He did not enter a plea.
Officials claim Allen was armed with a shotgun, handgun, and multiple knives when he was arrested near the event’s security screening area. Investigators are also reviewing writings authorities described as a manifesto allegedly sent to family members minutes before the shooting.
