IPL Points Table 2026: Updated Standings, Orange Cap, Purple Cap After LSG vs KKR Match 38

The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, match no.38, was between the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). It was the second match of the doubleheader on Sunday. It was the battle of the teams that were at the bottom of the table. However, in this match, KKR have the better of LSG by two wickets in a super over as Rinku Singh scored the winning runs.

LSG captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and opted to field first. They made just one change with George Linde coming in place of M Siddharth. KKR played the same team that won against the Rajasthan Royals. The fans came in large numbers to the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow, to support their franchise.

LSG had a brilliant start as Mohammed Shami and Mohsin Khan were clinical with the new ball and mounted the pressure as the latter picked up the wicket of Tim Seifert, who was back in the pavilion without scoring. Then followed Ajinkya Rahane, as he was dismissed by Mohsin for 10 runs.

There was a controversial decision against the KKR, as Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who was given out for obstructing the field, was shocking for the whole KKR dug out and the commentators as well. He was sent back while taking a double, and despite the on-field umpire giving not-out, he was given out by the third umpire as he changed his direction.

Then it was Rovman Powell who was dismissed by Mohsin again. After that, Cameron Green and Rinku Singh stitched a partnership between them, but the former was dismissed on the score of 34 runs, and on the next ball, Anukul Roy was also dismissed on a golden duck as Mohsin Khan picked up his maiden fifer in the IPL.

KKR kept on losing wickets; however, Rinku stuck at one end, and the Knights finished off with a score of 155/7 runs, and the Southpaw scored 83*, as he smashed four sixes in the last over of Digvesh Rathi, with 26 runs coming of the final over.

Coming out to chase, Mitchell Marsh got out early as Vaibhav Arora struck on his first over, with Rovman Powell taking a good catch. Then Rishabh Pant and Aiden Markram stitched a partnership, and then Markram was dismissed on the score of 31 runs.

Rishabh Pant, who was striking well in the match, was dismissed by Sunil Narine on the score of 42 runs. LSG were reduced to 78/3, and then Nicholas Pooran walked back as he was dismissed for another low score of 9 runs. The wickets kept on falling as the last KKR vs LSG match hero Mukul Choudhary was dismissed for one run.

Ayush Badoni, who looked dangerous, was back after scoring 24 runs, as the Super Giants' hopes ended as LSG needed 17 off the last over. Kartik Tyagi came to bowl the last over as the pacer bowled two no-balls, but Tyagi redeemed himself; however, the match went to the super over as Shami struck six of the last ball.

In the super over, Pooran and Markram came out to bat for the Super Giants, and Narine came to bowl. The KKR spinner had the Southpaw on the very first ball, and then Markram on the third ball as LSG scored one run in the super over, and KKR scored that easily and won the match.
