While media outlets once lined the streets outside Nancy’s home in the Catalina Foothills, coverage has since slowed and most news teams have left Tucson. Now, only a small number of YouTube live streamers remain in the area.
NewsNation’s Allison Hope Weiner recently spent time in Tucson, where she spoke with residents living nearby. While some reports suggest neighbors are frustrated with continued filming in the area, Weiner noted that many remain concerned about the lack of resolution in the case.
“While I was in Tucson, I also learned that despite the sheriff’s patrols targeted at trespassing journalists, the residents of Guthrie’s neighborhood are uneasy and concerned about the failure to find a suspect in her abduction,” Weiner said in a report.
"One of the neighbors told me that, as a result of Nancy’s kidnapping, people are living differently than before; installing cameras, watching for people in the area who look like they don’t belong and wondering if Nancy’s abductor and potential killer is living in their midst," Weiner continued.
Investigators believe Nancy was abducted from her home in the middle of the night, though the motive behind the alleged kidnapping remains unclear.
