From Southeastern Louisiana defensive tackle Kaleb Proctor on down, we’re reviewing the FCS football selections and storylines in the 2026 NFL Draft.
The FCS class of prospects is smaller than usual in the 2026 NFL Draft, but it still packs punch with talented players.
We’re breaking down the picks as they unfold during the three-day draft that runs through Saturday in Pittsburgh.
Five FCS NFL Draft Facts
Throughout the decade, the Missouri Valley has been the go-to conference for FCS NFL Draft picks with nearly one-third (24 of 74) overall in the 2020-25 drafts. Cole Payton is expected to be the fifth quarterback drafted from North Dakota State since 2016. Only the Bison, Ohio State (five) and Alabama (four) had four or more signal-callers selected in the 10-year period from 2016-25. Jackson State has the most draft selections (43) during the FCS era of each school, most recently with the New England Patriots picking cornerback Isaiah Bolden in the 2023 seventh round. Grambling State is second with 36 draft selections during its FCS era. Positions with at least 10 FCS selections in the last 10 drafts (2016-25): cornerback (23), offensive tackle (21), outside linebacker (15), offensive guard (14), defensive end (12), wide receiver (12) and defensive tackle (10). Since the NFL Draft was dropped to seven rounds in 1994, the number of FCS selections have ranged from the high of 30 in both 1996 and ’97 to the low of six in both 2020 and ’21.FCS Football Selections in 2026 NFL Draft
Arizona Cardinals: Kaleb Proctor, DT, Southeastern Louisiana
Round: 4; Overall Pick: 104 Height: 6-2; Weight: 291 Notable: SLU’s first draft pick since 2016 was second among FCS interior defensive linemen last season with 13 tackles for loss, including three versus LSU. What They’re Saying: ”As an interior defender, Proctor is an elite athlete with rare playmaking range. He’s an elusive rusher with an explosive first step and the ability to unlock openings with varied approaches and angles. He’s also very undersized with limited recourse once linemen have him squared up and put hands on him.” – Lance Zierlein, NFL.comMore FCS NFL Draft Prospects to Know
