Multiple people robbed at gunpoint inside River North business

People inside a River North business early Thursday morning were robbed at gunpoint, police said, with at least one person injured as an investigation remains underway.

About 3:12 a.m., three male suspects with guns entered a business in the 300 block of West Chicago Avenue and demanded money from those inside, police said.

    The suspects took money from the cash register, authorities said, as well as money and personal items from four people inside.

    According to police, money and personal property was taken from a 56-year-old man, a 63-year-old man, a 64-year-old man and a woman whose age wasn’t known.

    The suspects also struck a 23-year-old man in the back of the head, authorities said. He was transported to a nearby hospital in good condition.

    According to police, the suspects then fled the scene in a black sedan, heading eastbound on Orleans Street.

    Police did not identify the business robbed. According to reports, the incident took place inside popular diner Griddle 24.
