On Tuesday night, Denver saw the Colorado Avalanche face the Los Angeles Kings in Game Two of their opening playoff round. It was a tough and drawn-out battle that someone needed to step and play hero. The captain and Nic Roy were the players for the Avalanche as they took Game Two in a 2–1 overtime victory.

Colorado generated many opportunities during the initial period, yet failed to convert them. They logged 14 shots on goal, with half of them from the high-danger area on the ice. Goaltender Anton Forsberg did not seem fazed by the Avalanche’s effort in the opening period, stopping every shot thrown his way.
Scott Wedgewood continued to steal the show for the Avalanche in Game Two, stopping **** shots. As he stood tall in the crease, he stopped a shorthanded opportunity by the Kings in the first. They made it obvious they had done their homework on Wedgewood by trying to push the puck through his five-hole. Later on in the second period, Wedgewood stonewalled Quinton Byfield on a penalty shot after Cale Makar hooked Byfield on the breakaway.

Colorado struggled throughout the game to take advantage of secondary chances in front of the Kings’ net. The Avalanche failed to follow the shot after the primary shot on net. A great example was with six minutes left in the third when Nathan MacKinnon charged the Kings’ net. The puck ricocheted near the goal, yet no player capitalized.
The captain tied the game late in the third after LA scored on the power play for the second game. Seldom did Gabriel Landeskog enjoy setups from rebounds or passes originating behind the net.
