Their father, George Osmond, sought an audition for his talented sons with Lawrence Welk, but the opportunity materialized. Hoping to lift their spirits, he took them to Disneyland, where the boys caught attention after spontaneously singing alongside the park’s barbershop quartet, The Dapper Dans.

According to the Saturday Evening Post, Jay Emerson Williams, father of entertainer Andy Williams, was so impressed by the Osmond's appearance on a Disneyland After Dark episode of The Wonderful World of Disney in 1962 that he recommended they perform on Andy's TV variety series.
