Saint Petersburg, Russia April 17-21, 2026 LCM (50 Meters) Live Results Recaps Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3

Russia flexed its depth on day 4 of the Russian Swimming Cup in Saint Petersburg, headlined by a loaded men’s 50 backstroke final that produced the fastest time in the world this season and five sub-25 performances.

Five of the eight men’s 50 backstroke finalists managed to swim under the 25-second mark; as Pavel Samusenko and Georgy Yakovlev battled to the final inches for the top time, Samusenko would touch just five hundredths better in 24.33. That time from Samusenko ranks him as the fastest performer in the world this year, while Yakovlev now sits in a tie for 3rd with Michele Lamberti in 24.38.

In addition to those top two times, longtime Russian backstroke ace Kliment Kolesnikov, the world record holder in the 50 back, wound up 3rd in 24.51, a time that ties him with Henry Allan for the 6th fastest time in the world this season. Both Yan Shapkin (24.57) and Miron Lifintsev (24.91) also found their way into the world top 20 in 10th and 19th, respectively.

Ivan Kozhakin charged to a new lifetime best to outpace Kirill Prigoda (59.40) and Danil Semyaninov (59.87) and win the men’s 100 breaststroke, touching as the only sub-59-second swimmer in the event in 58.91, passing World Record holder Adam Peaty for the 4th fastest performer in the world this season.

Before this swim, Kozhakin’s best time came at the 2023 Russian National Championships, where he nearly dipped under 59-seconds in 59.01.

Mikhail Shcherbakov claimed the first win of day 4 with his win in the 200 free, touching in 1:46.71, just 14 hundredths ahead of Bogdan Toropkin in 1:46.85. This time for Shcherbakov marks a big career best, having previously held a best of 1:47.28 from the World junior championships in 2025.

Daria Klepikova climbed the world rankings in the women’s 100 fly, claiming the event win in 57.42, nearly a full second faster than Arina Surkova, who finished runner-up in 58.41. Klepikova now ranks as the 9th-fastest performer in the world this season, though the time still sits off her lifetime best of 56.42 from the World Championships last summer.

Alina Gaifutdinova, who just yesterday swam a world-leading 27.23 50 backstroke, claimed another win here, overwhelming the women’s 100 back final in 59.51. However, this swim does not top the world ranking like her 50 back yesterday (though she now ranks 11th in the world this season in the 100 back); it does lower her all-time best from the 59.87 that she swam in Singapore last summer at the World Championships.

Victoria Blinova earned a win of her own in the women’s 200 IM, touching in the only sub-2:13 performance of the day in 2:12.60. This time, she demolishes her former best of 2:18.38 from the Russian National Championships in 2023.

Kseniia Misharina earned the final individual win of the day, touching over six seconds faster than the rest of the women’s 800 free field in 8:25.54, a near two-second time drop from her 8:27.36 at the Russian National Swimming Cup in 2024, and catapults her up to the 12th fastest performer in the world this season.
