Berhampur: In the wake of prevailing hot and humid weather conditions, the Ganjam administration has announced temporary closure of schools for students across the district.
The decision has been taken to safeguard the health and well-being of children during the intense heat. As per the order issued by the Collector and District Magistrate, all Government, Government-aided, and privately managed schools from Sishu Vatika (pre-primary) to Class XII will remain closed for students only from April 21 to April 23, 2026.
However, academic and administrative activities will not come to a halt. Teaching and non-teaching staff are required to attend school as usual, and essential functions such as admissions, administrative work, and census duties will continue without interruption.
Importantly, supplementary examinations for Class V and Class VIII will be conducted as per the schedule set by OSEPA, Bhubaneswar. School authorities have been directed to ensure proper arrangements, including adequate drinking water, ORS, and first-aid facilities, to ensure the safety of students appearing for exams.
The administration has urged schools to take all necessary precautions to minimize heat-related risks while ensuring continuity in essential academic processes.
