HENRIETTA, N.Y. — A Rochester man, who Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies say is a repeat offender, is facing more charges after being accused of stealing over $3,000 worth of items from Dick’s Sporting Goods.
On Sunday at around 4:46 p.m., deputies say they responded to the Dick’s on Jefferson Road in Henrietta for a report of a larceny. They say witnesses reported seeing two men steal multiple jackets and leave the area in a U-Haul truck that had Arizona license plates.
Deputies quickly found the truck and conducted a traffic stop on East Henrietta Road. They say a passenger came out of the U-Haul and ran away. The driver was detained, and deputies say a third person in the U-Haul, Leonard Henry, refused their commands to exit the truck, leading to his removal and detainment.
Investigators say Henry, 51, was one of the two men who stole the jackets, which they say were valued at $3,780. Henry was charged with grand larceny, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration. He was brought to the Monroe County Jail.
According to deputies, Henry had an active arrest warrant from Genesee County for grand larceny.
The driver who was detained isn’t facing any criminal charges, according to deputies. Deputies added that the passenger who fled on foot hasn’t been found. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or email [email protected] and reference CR # 26-183544.
