Some residents in south suburban Dolton were asked to remain indoors and avoid an area where authorities said there is an “active police situation.”
According to the village, police were responding to an “active situation” involving a man wanted in connection with a domestic-related incident Wednesday morning, which involved the discharge of a weapon.
The man was barricaded inside a vehicle in the rear of the 14800 block of Wabash Avenue and refused to leave, officials said.
SWAT was called to the scene and residents were asked to avoid the area and “remain indoors if nearby as a precaution.”
“Specialized units, including SWAT, are on scene actively working to bring the situation to a safe resolution,” the village wrote in its alert.
The situation was ongoing as of about 10:30 a.m. and no updates had been given as of 11 a.m.
