Will Wade has added another notable name to his new LSU coaching staff.
Damon Stoudamire has been hired by LSU as an assistant coach. He joins former SEC coaches Rick Stansbury and Johnny Jones on Wade’s staff ahead of the 2026-27 season.

— LSU Basketball (@LSUBasketball) April 13, 2026Stoudamire heads to Baton Rouge after spending the past 3 seasons as Georgia Tech’s head coach. A standout at Arizona, Stoudamire also played 13 seasons in the NBA.
“We are happy to welcome Damon Stoudamire to the LSU Basketball family,” Wade said in a program release. “His NBA success and his years of college basketball coaching experience brings a perspective to our coaching staff that will be very useful as we move forward.”
Stoudamire had a 42-55 record at Georgia Tech. He only guided the Yellow Jackets to the postseason once, making the NIT in 2025 during a 17-17 season.
A former Arizona star, Stoudamire was a first-round NBA Draft pick in 1995. He played professionally until 2008.
After his playing career, Stoudamire got into coaching. He was an assistant at the college and pro levels before landing the Pacific head coaching job in 2016. He had a 71-77 record coaching Pacific from 2016-21.
