Arizona State men’s basketball secured its first transfer portal addition on Friday with LSU wing Marcus Vaughns, who redshirted after joining the Tigers between semesters out of Australia.
Vaughns followed his LSU associate head coach — and fellow Australian — David Patrick, who moved over to the same role at ASU under new head coach Randy Bennett.
ASU previously flipped the commitment of JRob Croy, the No. 124 player in the 2026 class, per 247 Sports, from Saint Mary’s to ASU. He is the son of new associate head coach Rick Croy.
ASU is expected to host Boise State’s Andrew Meadow on Saturday, according to 247 Sports’ Eric Bossi. The 6-foot-7 wing started 67 out of 69 games played over his sophomore and junior seasons, and he shot a career-best 38.6% on 3s last season.
Saint Mary’s standout freshman Dillan Shaw will also visit over the weekend, per 247 Sports’ Dushawn London. The 6-foot-8 Shaw made the WCC All-Freshman team after averaging 7.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game on 41.6% 3-point shooting.

Be sure to keep an eye on the other Saint Mary’s players in the portal, like All-WCC players Mikey Lewis and Paulius Murauskas. Croy’s starting center for the final 13 games at Cal Baptist was Glendale Cactus High School product Bradey Henige, a 7-footer who is also taking a shot at the portal.
The staff under Bennett includes Croy, Patrick and Joe Rahon as associate head coaches for his first season in Tempe after spending the last 25 years leading Saint Mary’s.
Croy spent the last 13 seasons as Cal Baptist’s head coach. Patrick, who previously helped Bennett secure Patty Mills, was most recently an associate head coach at LSU for two seasons. Rahon is a former Saint Mary’s player. All three coaches have spent time working under Bennett at Saint Mary’s.
They’ll build out a roster to replace what Bobby Hurley had in his final year, with most possible returning players already on the way out.
