The Tuscaloosa Police Department arrested a man on Wednesday for sexually assaulting his juvenile adoptive son on Wednesday.
Phillip Scott Watts, age 39, was charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree sodomy, tampering with physical evidence and incest.
Watts was arrested and committed to jail with no bond.
The Violent Crimes Unit also found that his wife, Kati Rhodes Watts, knew about the abuse. She was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of violation of the mandatory reporting. She was employed as a daycare worker during the time of the abuse, and is therefore subject to the Alabama Mandatory Reporting Law.
Kati Watts was committed to jail with a $1200 bond.
